U.S. Lawmakers, Family Plead for Michigan Man’s Release from Russian Prison

The plea from lawmakers and Whelan’s own sister marks the highest profile move Washington has made thus far in attempts to negotiate with Russia for the former marine’s release.
US Senator Gary Peters summed up their appeal: “Not to be able to produce any charges or any sort of evidence is simply not the way a government should operate.”
Whelan’s sister vowed not to rest until her brother is home and safe.
