U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allocates Over $57 Million for Soo Locks
The US Army Corps of Engineers has directed several million dollars towards construction at the Soo Locks.
According to congressman Jack Bergman, a work plan released this week directs over $57 million to be spent on major rehabilitation and modernization at the Soo Locks.
Congressman Bergman says this is a major step towards ensuring seamless operation of the Soo Locks.
In addition to the funding directive, congress passed the Water Resources Development Act.
The bill authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to expedite the change report for the Soo Locks, which is the next step for the project.
