Two Rescued after their ATV Falls Through the Ice
Two people were rescued after their vehicle fell through the ice.
Shortly before 6 o’clock last night Richfield Township Public Safety responded to Lake St Helen in Roscommon County.
They were told that someone was screaming for help out on the ice.
The caller told dispatch they thought someone had fallen through the ice.
But personnel were given conflicting reports on where the victims were.
After calling several times responders were able to find the two victims and start rescue efforts.
The Roscommon County Sheriff was contacted for help and asked to bring their airboat, along with Lake Township.
Authorities say the two victims, a 61-year-old man and a 54-year-old man, had been driving a John Deere Gator across the lake when it broke through the ice.
The two ended up in the water for approximately 40 minutes before being rescued.
They were taken to the hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
