TBASID Career Tech Center Unveils New Manufacturing, Welding Addition
It was a big day for the Traverse Bay Area ISD Career Tech Center.
After a year of construction and more time planning, the new Manufacturing Technology Academy was officially opened on Wednesday.
Before this new addition to the CTC, students in the Manufacturing Technology program were in a crowded space on Aero Park.
The new expansion also allowed the CTC to increase the number of students in the welding program, who will share the expanded shop space with the MTA students
The students say this move was very beneficial, at the old facility they didn’t have very much room to work.
According to the Michigan Department of Education, the current job market is demanding more workers with technical skills, and programs like this one at the CTC helps fill this shortage and gives students a career path after graduation.
