State Launches Investigation Into Fire at Consumers Gas Facility

The Michigan Public Service Commission has opened an investigation into the fire at a Consumer Energy facility in Macomb County.
The January 30th fire in Ray Township and prompted Consumers to ask Michiganders to turn down their thermostats.
The MPSC will look into events surrounding the fire.
According to the commission, the station is the largest source of gas capacity in Michigan.
It also supplies a large portion of Consumers’ natural gas needs during winter usage.
Separately, the MPSC also launched an assessment of the supply and deliverability of natural gas, electricity, and propane in Michigan.
That was requested by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
