Sheriff’s Office Locates Owner of Money Found in Grand Traverse County
We have an update to a story that we covered early this month.
On May 2nd a woman turned in a bank bag with a considerable amount of cash in it that was found near the Grand Traverse Mall.
Police were contacted and searched for the owner of the money.
The sheriff’s office had asked for help finding the owner.
Now the sheriff’s office says the owner has claimed his lost cash.
The 50-year-old man from Frankfort says he dropped his bank bag with $3167 in cash before he got on a BATA bus.
He had told a friend that he’d lost the money.
It was the friend saw an article about the found money and he told his friend to contact the sheriff’s office.
The money was returned on Monday after a thorough investigation.
The sheriff’s office wants to thank the 25-year-old Traverse City woman who found the money and did the right thing by turning it in.
