We’re looking into the logistics of increasing our transmitter power. That said, we’re classified as a “Low Power” station, so even if we were to increase to the maximum transmitter power this classification allows, it still may be difficult to pull us in from 40 miles away.
Regarding Dish Network and DirecTV, we have every intention of getting carried on these service providers. We’re continuing talks with both companies, and every piece of subscriber or potential subscriber feedback the receive certainly helps our argument. Check out this page for some tips on how to request our station: http://www.minews26.com/content/?p=22259
Thanks for your interest in our station. Have a great evening!

Is there any way where you guys can increase your transmitter power from 425 watts? I live ~ 40 miles from Cadillac, and I know that 425 watts can go only to Lake City, but the Traverse City-Cadillac DMA is much larger than that, and you guys have no plans to get carried on Dish Netowkr, or DirecTV, and I would love to see Ch. 26.
The wheel for MI News 26 is approximately as follows:
At the top of each half hour, we air an approximately seven minute block of local news headlines, an initial weather forecast, and a rotation of community event information.
This block is followed by in-depth weather around 11 minutes past the half hour, and Paula Jasper’s “Around our Area” features around 14 minutes past the half hour.
Another brief look at weather airs after Around our Area — approximately 19 minutes past the half hour; it’s followed by “Interact.”
Interact is followed by one of Vic McCarty’s feature stories at about 22 minutes past each half hour, and the half-hour wheel wraps up with a sports update and/or a look at pets up for adoption at local animal shelters (depending on the day and day part).
Hope this helps!
what’s the news wheel schedule format for MI News 26?
I’ve enjoyed your classic TV, such as the Beverly Hillbillies, cartoons etc, I just wondered if you have a TV guide that will let me know what is on daily? I believe you have a great station, and think that many of the elderly would love these channels. But like my parents I don’t know how many are aware of them. We just recently found them ourselves, Thank you for decent programing!!
We really enjoy the TV classics and some of the movies. These are the things we grew up with. We will be happy when you can publish a regular schedule.
You need to boost your signal so I can get here in SE Mason County or talk to Carr Telephone to see if they will add you to their lineup as a local channel.
I think you have found a niche.
Love your passion, we will be watching from Lake City
Congratulations, Scott Forbes
Just tossing this out there, but seeing Saturday Morning Cartoons again (If that’s an option) seems they’ve all but disappeared from regular TV for infomercials and news programs!
Just read about this in the LC paper. We are SO excited! Congrats to you!! This is quite the accomplishment for one so young. Let us know if we can help you in any way.
Best wishes to the station, Cindy at Pioneer
Well, a mutal friend sent me information on how to VOTE FOR MI NEWS 26, done did it, right then. I was unaware you were still on the air, lost you about a year ago. Go, Go.
Well, I have you bookmarked. I hope this takes off because I will enjoy the video news a lot more than reading the paper on line. I am in Kuwait so the format is really a nice, fresh look at good old Cadillac!! Good Luck!!
