President Trump Issues Major Disaster Declaration For UP Flood Damage
President Donald Trump has declared a major disaster in the Upper Peninsula and ordered Federal assistance to supplement local recovery efforts.
The assistance will help areas affected by severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides from June 16 to June 18th of this year.
Federal funding is available to State, Tribal, and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work.
It also covers the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms in Gogebic, Houghton, and Menominee Counties.
In addition, federal funding can used to further hazard mitigation measures statewide.
A state emergency declaration was already in effect, but officials requested the federal declaration to supplement response efforts.
