Portions of Leelanau State Park to Close for Restoration Project
To accommodate an all-volunteer workforce, portions of Leelanau State Park will be closed later this month.
The project will involve more than 275 tourism industry volunteers from across the state going to the park from the 16th to the 17th.
They’re all coming together to paint, install a new playground, clear trails and clean the campground.
So, for volunteer and visitor safety, the campground and a section of the trail will temporarily close for the two days.
The grand traverse lighthouse will also temporarily close Tuesday, the 17th.
All of this is being done by Michigan Cares for Tourism, an organization that brings the tourism industry together to help restore the state’s attractions.
