Person Of The Week: Walter Hunt, Jr.
This week’s Person Of The Week is a man that has served his community for 60 years.
Walter Hunt, Jr. is a firefighter at the Merritt Area Fire Department, and has been for many years.
Over the years, Hunt has also worked as a County Commissioner and Township Supervisor, as well as volunteers with the Masonic Lodge and the Shiners, taking children to Chicago for their hospital appointments.
Hunt has sons and grandsons as firefighters, and is very proud of the fact.
In 2013, the Merritt fire barn was dedicated to Hunt for his dedication to the community, and was recently honored for his 60 years.
Hunt went on to say that he thinks serving the community is something everyone should take the time to do.
And, for doing just that, Walter Hunt, Jr. is this week’s Person of the Week.
If you know of someone who’s working hard in their own community, creating something new in the area, or just affecting northern Michigan in their own special way and you’d like to nominate them — send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tell us who you’d like to nominate for the person of the week, why you think they should receive that title, and how we can reach them — Each week, we’ll broadcast one of these nominees as the “Person of the Week.”
