Person of the Week: Douglas Baumann
This week’s Person of the Week is a Michigan State Police Trooper who was recently named the 2018 Seventh District Trooper of the Year.
Douglas Baumann graduated from the 121st Trooper Recruit School in 2008 — he was initially assigned to the Grand Haven Post and has since served at the Kalkaska, Caro, and Houghton Lake posts.
He has served on the MSP SWAT Team as both a negotiator and tactical operator.
He also serves as a first aid instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor, and as a recruiter.
Outside of work, Baumann coaches the Traverse City West High School Basketball team and regularly provides volunteer presentations at local schools.
He has previously won Officer of the Year awards from both the Kalkaska Kiwanis and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
For his dedicated work in the community, Trooper Douglas Baumann receives this week’s title of Person of the Week.
If you know of someone who’s working hard in their own community, creating something new in the area, or just affecting northern Michigan in their own special way and you’d like to nominate them — send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tell us who you’d like to nominate for the person of the week, why you think they should receive that title, and how we can reach them — Each week, we’ll broadcast one of these nominees as the “Person of the Week.”
