Person of the Week: Donald Samardich 1/28/19
This week’s Person of the Week was a veteran and a business owner who recently passed away.
Donald Samardich graduated from St. Martin High School in 1947 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960.
Following his military service, Samardich attended Wayne State University and later the Detroit College of Law, where he earned his Doctorate of Law Degree in 1970.
in 1971, Samardich was offered a position at the law firm of Korn and Burns in Cadillac before starting his own law practice with three others.
He was an avid tennis player, loved to travel, and loved books.
Friends say that he had a special gift for making people feel like they mattered and was exceedingly kind.
Following his retirement from law practice, Donald became the President and CEO of Avon Rubber and Plastics North American Operations — before later retiring — and also served on several boards in the Cadillac area.
Donald Samardich passed away on January 25th, 2019 — he was 79.
For his Decades of Community Service, Donald Samardich receives this week’s title of Person of the Week.
If you know of someone who’s working hard in their own community, creating something new in the area, or just affecting northern Michigan in their own special way and you’d like to nominate them — send an email to email@example.com.
Tell us who you’d like to nominate for the person of the week, why you think they should receive that title, and how we can reach them — Each week, we’ll broadcast one of these nominees as the “Person of the Week.”
