Overtime Exemption Rule Lunch Seminar
Boyne Chamber offers June 13 lunch seminar on overtime exemption rule
The Boyne Area Chamber is offering a June 13th luncheon seminar to help local business people learn what they need to do to prepare for the new federal Overtime Exemption Rule. The U.S. Department of Labor has released their final rule that makes changes to overtime pay regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act. If you have salaried employees making less than $913 weekly or $47,476 annually, you will probably have to increase their salary or change them to hourly “non-exempt status” and pay them for overtime as of Dec. 1, 2016. Local labor and employment attorney Laura Dinon, a senior partner with Plunkett Cooney, will present this seminar, providing in-depth analysis of the proposed new FLSA overtime regulation provisions and practical tips on how to prepare for the changes. Dinon recently presented this seminar to a large audience for the Petoskey Chamber and we asked her to offer it in Boyne City. The seminar will be in the Community Room of the Boyne District Library, 201 E. Main St. Registration and lunch begin at 11:45 a.m. and the seminar will be held from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. The cost is $8 per person and includes Subway sandwiches and soft drinks. It is open to chamber members and the public. Advance registration is required; register online at www.boynechamber.com or call the Chamber at (231) 582-6222.
