Mural, Memorial Added to Wexford County Courthouse to Honor Local Veterans
A Ceremony was held early Monday Morning to honor our veterans in a new way.
A new Memorial wall and Mural now hangs in the Wexford County Courthouse.
During the ceremony 8 Shadow boxes were presented, these were frames that held names, medals, news clippings and other information about soldiers who lost their lives from several different wars, but all grew up in Wexford County.
As each of the shadow boxes were revealed, the families were invited to take a moment to honor and remember the fallen.
A large Mural was also painted to depict the different branches of the military, with the words “All gave some, some gave all” across the top.
This Memorial Wall was the culmination of efforts from several businesses and individuals within the community, and the Mural was painted by local artist Shannon Nelson.
They all worked together to create the Memorial Wall so the community won’t forget the sacrifice that these local heroes made.
Plans are also in the works to expand the memorial and add another mural to the hallway, so be sure to keep an eye on it in the future.
