MSP Combatting Human Trafficking in Northern Michigan
The Michigan State Police says they are combatting Human Trafficking here in Northern Michigan.
Their efforts are part of a months-long prostitution operation, which began in January and wrapped up in September.
A total of 37 men were arrested for soliciting prostitution and related crimes.
According to the state police, prostitution is illegal for a good reason.
They say many prostitutes are addicted to opioids and find themselves in the
kind of desperate situation that leads to human trafficking.
Troopers believe they have an obligation to support the communities’ efforts to fight back against the crimes.
Officials are encouraging you to report any suspicious activity potentially related to prostitution, human trafficking, or opioid abuse.
