MSP Arrested Man Accused of Stealing Generator from Wexford County Store
Troopers arrested a man while investigating a retail fraud that happened in Wexford County.
It happened on Wednesday in the 2000 block of N. Mitchell Street.
A cashier told police that they watched the suspect take a generator off the shelf, put it in his cart, and walk out without paying for it.
The cashier was able to get the suspect’s vehicle description and registration.
Troopers passed that information to Central Dispatch who sent out an area broadcast for police to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
Another trooper was then able to locate the vehicle on Boon Rd and stopped the vehicle.
The stolen generator, which has a value of nearly $1000, was found in the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested and lodged in the Wexford County Jail on charges of first degree retail fraud.
While searching the suspect’s vehicle for the generator, troopers say they found evidence of narcotics.
That evidence is being forwarded to the crime lab for testing and additional charges may be sought.
