The Department of Health and Human Services is encouraging Michiganders to donate to the child protection fund.
Officials says you have the chance when you file your state income tax returns.
A checkoff box on the form allows residents to donate $5, $10 or more to go toward preventing child abuse in Michigan through the Children’s Trust Fund.
The Children’s Trust Fund is a nonprofit within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The MDHHS says it serves as a voice for Michigan’s children and families and promotes their health, safety and welfare.
The money also funds local programs throughout the state that prevent child abuse and neglect.
