Memorial Day Travel
An estimated 1.1 million Michigan residents will travel 50 miles or more this weekend, launching the 2013 summer travel season.
AAA Michigan says that state travel is project to be nearly on par with last year. 34.8 million people are expected to travel nationally this year. That’s down .9% from the year before.
89% of travelers nationally are going by vehicle. In Michigan, nearly 92% will travel by car, which is slightly more than last year.
4.8% are expected to travel by air with the remaining 3% of travelers going by train or bus.
