Manistee Man Accused of Assault by Strangulation
An Emergency Response Team was dispatched to help take a Manistee Man into custody.
The incident happened on Friday in Manistee Township.
Around 2:30 Friday afternoon deputies investigated an assault by strangulation on Bridge Street.
That investigation lead to a felony warrant being issued for 52-year-old Jospeh Cowen of Manistee.
The sheriff’s office says there was a threat of possible weapons use and they called the Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Emergency Response Team for assistance.
Cowen was located and taken into custody shortly after 10 o’clock Friday night without incident.
He has been charged with assault by strangulation and domestic violence.
Cowen remains lodged in the Manistee County Jail.
