Man Pleads Guilty to 2016 Murder in Clare County
A man has plead guilty to a murder in Clare County.
36 year-old James Kuhns of Farwell plead guilty to murdering Leonard Hempel back in April of 2016.
Hempel’s body was found in the backyard of a home after being reported missing for three weeks.
The victim’s 31-year-old daughter, Angela Hempel, was also charged with lying to police at the time.
She admitted to the charge and was sentenced to prison in September.
Kuhns now heads to a penalty hearing where a judge will decide if this was a first or second degree murder.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
