Man Breaks Into Home, Shoots Homeowner
After a manhunt in Kalkaska County police took the man accused of a home invasion and shooting in Antrim County into custody.
On Saturday Antrim County deputies were called to a breaking and entering in on South M-66 near Green River Road.
On scene deputies found that the homeowner had been shot.
They also found a child nearby who had non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
The child had been walking near the home on M-66.
The homeowner was flown to Munson for treatment, while the child was taken by ambulance.
MSP K9s followed a trail from this home to another on the Old Alba Highway.
That house had also been broken into and a snowmobile was stolen.
A MSP helicopter was assisting with the search and was able to see the snowmobiles trail and followed it south into Kalkaska County.
The helicopter followed the trail to where the sled was hidden in the wood line behind a house.
Troopers and Kalkaska County deputies responded to the house and took the suspect, a 29-year-old man from Mancelona, into custody without incident.
He is held in the Antrim County Jail pending formal charges.
A press conference is planned for 3:45 this afternoon and we will have the latest from that on-air and online.
