Man Arrested in Connection with Teen’s Overdose Death
An Interlochen man was arrested in connection with a teenager’s overdose death.
On Sunday deputies responded to a home in Grand Traverse County’s Green Lake Township for the report of a possible overdose.
Dispatch had been told that someone on scene had already gave the victim, a 19-year-old, two doses of naloxone and was currently providing CPR.
Those efforts were unsuccessful and the teen, Rachel Frances Ovalle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies investigated, which lead to a hotel in Traverse City.
There detectives talked to several people staying in a room at the hotel.
One of them was a 21-year-old man from Interlochen who was arrested on several charges, including possession with intent to deliver heroin and MDMA, possession of crack, and felony firearm.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is the third possible overdose death in Grand Traverse County this month.
It is unknown if there is any connection between them.
