Local Homeowners to Benefit From NMCAA Grant
Families looking to do repairs on their homes, but are struggling with the financial burden could be getting some help.
That’s after a local agency received a grant to help families pay for the needed repairs.
It’s through the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency and a grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
According to N-M-C-A-A they have a waiting list of families who they will start contacting about using the funds to help them with their repairs.
The $176,000 will help four families, but N-M-C-A-A says they have some existing funds they can use that could increase that to five or six families.
This isn’t the first time grants from the state have helped the area, in 2015 funds from the Housing Development Authority were used to help over a dozen families.
While this isn’t the full amount that they had requested, the NMCAA is happy to receive the funds that they have and are planning to do as much as they can with them.
This isn’t the only area that will receive grants from the Housing Development Authority.
They are also presenting funds in Petoskey for a new playground — and over $1 million in Sault Ste. Marie to help with the construction of a new apartment building.
