Lawmakers Pay Respects to Former Rep. John Dingell At U.S. Capitol
Lawmakers walked out of the U.S. capitol Tuesday afternoon, to pay respects to late congressman John Dingell.
A funeral procession carrying his remains stopped for several minutes at capitol hill.
Both house and senate members waited in the rain to bid their former colleague a final goodbye.
Many were unable to make it Michigan for his funeral due to bad weather.
Dingell was the longest-serving congress member, representing his district downstate for more than 59 years.
The Democratic congressman decided to retire five years ago and passed away last week at the age of 92.
A separate funeral service was held in Dearborn earlier tuesday.
