Huron-Manistee National Forests Ban Alcohol on Three Rivers
The Huron-Manistee National Forests are prohibiting the possession of alcohol on three rivers.
The rivers affected include the AuSable, Manistee, and Pine National Wild and Scenic Rivers.
According to officials, the closure order is intended to address persistent public safety issues and protect natural resources.
The Forest Service says their goal is to create a safer, more sustainable, and more enjoyable experience for visitors.
The ban will remain in effect throughout the summer, running from May 24th to September 2nd.
And a violation of the ban punishable by a $5,000 find and up to six months in prison.
