Grants Awarded to Help Rehabilitate Three Historic Lighthouses
Over $100,000 in grants is being used to help preserve three Michigan Lighthouses.
Three historic lighthouses are receiving grants from the Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program.
The grants are for rehabilitation projects or assessment for future projects.
The three lighthouses are the Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light, the DeTour Reef Light, and the Thunder Bay Island Light.
Michigan has the most lighthouses out of any state in the country.
Funding for this program comes from the sale of specialty Save Our Lights license plates that can be purchased at any Secretary of State branch office.
