Gladwin County Drain Commissioner Sued for $11 Billion By DEQ, Attorney General
The Gladwin County drain commissioner is facing an $11 Billion lawsuit from the DEQ and Attorney General.
The suit alleges that Robert Evans repeatedly violated environmental regulations since 2012, including failing to protect surface water and prevent soil erosion and sedimentation.
The Gladwin County Board of Commissioners has requested Governor Snyder remove Evans.
According to to the commission, Evans is not doing his job and and has repeatedly failed to properly maintain the county drains or respond to state violations.
State Senator Jim Stamas supports the county commissioners and says removing an elected official is a rare and serious step.
Stamas continued, saying Evans’ unprecedented and serious dereliction of duty cannot be tolerated.
