Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Cadillac
A fire destroyed a mobile home in Cadillac Friday morning.
At around 8:48 Friday morning, crews responded to the report of a mobile home fire in the 500 Block of Seneca Street.
Once on scene, firefighters say they saw flames coming from the roof and heavy smoke.
Crews quickly went to work trying to extinguish the fire, which had already began to severely damage the structure.
Three departments were on scene battling the blaze for about an hour before the fire was brought under control.
Two people were in the house at the time of the fire, but they were able to get out.
The two were then transported to Munson Cadillac for minor injuries and evaluation.
Once the fire was extinguished, the mobile home was a total loss, with only its frame remaining.
Firefighters say there were some difficulties fighting the fire due to the amount of items in the home as well as its construction.
To make sure the fire didn’t rekindle, a backhoe was brought in the demolish what was left of the home.
Crews then doused the remains in water.
Firefighters say they don’t believe the homeowners have insurance, and the Red Cross was called in to assist them with their recovery.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
