Enbridge Addresses the Damage to Line 5, Plans to Reinforce Pipeline
Enbridge addressed the Michigan Pipeline Advisory Board Monday.
The company spoke about the recent incident where the Line 5 pipeline was damaged.
Back on April 1st, the pipeline along with electrical lines, were damaged.
The electrical lines spilled several hundred gallons of mineral oil into the straits, and were repaired last week.
Line 5 sustained two small dents.
Enbridge says they never had a reason to doubt the structural integrity of the pipeline, but wanted to make sure it was reinforced.
The company plans to put a sleeve on the pipeline to strengthen the metal.
Although, Enbridge is still looking into whether this will be a permanent solution.
