Emmet County Man Found Guilty in Sex Crimes Case
A man accused of sex crimes in Emmet County has been found guilty. In October of last year, 29 year-old Jacob Weld of Petoskey was arrested after an investigation into a sexual assault of a nine year-old.
The investigation started when the child was removed from a home because of a child abuse investigation.
According to the state police, the child disclosed the details of the sexual abuse to officials during a interview.
Weld was soon arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1st Degree.
Defendant Jacob Weld was found guilty in an Emmet County court on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the first Degree.
Weld is scheduled to be sentenced on March 26th.
