Consumers Energy Contributes $10 Million To Help Customers in Need
Consumers Energy says they have now contributed $10 million to help customers in need to pay their energy bills .
According to the company, it’s part their ongoing efforts to help Michigan residents stay safe and warm this winter.
In December, Consumers provided $8 million to help eligible customers with energy bills, in addition to a $2 million contribution in October.
Together, Consumers says the money will help up to 7,000 households enter their CARE program or facilitate additional aid to pay energy bills.
The CARE program allows customers a path to self-sufficiency by providing a payment plan with monthly credits and gradual forgiveness of past-due balances.
Consumers encourages people who are facing hardship with energy bills or other needs to call 2-1-1, a free service that connects people with resources to help.
