Child Killed By Flu For First Time This Season
A child in Michigan has died as a result of the flu.
According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services this is the first confirmed pediatric death from the flu for the 2017-2018 flu season.
The child was from the Upper Peninsula.
So far this season there has been more than 50 flu related pediatric deaths.
According to the CDC this flu season has seen elevated activity across the country over the last few weeks.
This has caused some of the highest hospitalization rates ever recorded due to the flu.
The MDHHS says it’s not too late to get vaccinated and strongly recommends everyone over the age of six months to get the seasonal flu vaccine.
