Bomb Threat at Traverse City Republican Party Office Prompts Evacuation
Republican party workers were evacuated from their office in Traverse City after a bomb threat.
According to the Michigan Republican Party, a man walked into their office at the Cherryland Center.
John Roth, chair of the Grand Traverse County Republicans, tells MI News 26 that the man was carrying a “Trump is Satan” sign and became “agitated.”
He was told to leave, and as he was walking, the man reportedly said “maybe I should just blow you up.”
He has yet to be found.
Workers immediately called police, who advised them to evacuate the building.
Everyone did make it out safely and the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Deputies checked the area for devices, but did not find any, and are now investigating the incident.
The man is described as being heavy set in his 50’s to 60’s and 6′ 3″ tall.
Officials say he reportedly left in a light colored sedan with bumper stickers.
