Antrim County boy dead after accidentally shooting himself with Grandfather’s gun
An 11-year-old Alba boy is dead following an accidental shooting in Antrim County.
According to reports, on Thursday 11-year-old Thomas Belanger and his brother, 14-year-old Ashten Belanger, took their grandfathers gun from a dresser drawer where it was kept unloaded.
Reports indicate that the boys then went to another place in the home and got ammunition for the gun.
After loading the .357 revolver the boys went to an outdoor “fort.”
According to police, Thomas was carrying the loaded gun when he tripped on some boards and fell. Reports indicate that the gun discharged and shot the boy in the face.
Police say the tragic incident has been ruled accidental and self-inflicted.
