Event of the Week: Grant Presentation in Cadillac

This week’s “Event of the Week” involves Lt. Governor Brian Calley and a grant awarded to a local nonprofit.

The After 26 Project recently receive a grant from the DTE Energy Foundation.

Funds from the $26,000 grant will play a significant role in continuing the mission of the organization, which focuses on providing jobs for the disabled at their café in Cadillac.

There are currently 21 project workers employed at the After 26 Depot Café — with positions ranging from busser to dishwasher, greeter, and more. One of the groups board members explained why their project is so important.

On hand for the presentation of the grant aiming was Lt. Governor Brian Calley, who hopes to see projects like After 26 begin to spread and provide job opportunities in Michigan.

Over the next few years the After 26 project hopes to increase the number of project workers from 21 to 30.
