Standoff Ends Safely in Roscommon County

A standoff at a Roscommon County home that lasted for much of the afternoon yesterday ended with one man arrested and nobody injured.

The incident began with a domestic dispute at a home in Nester Township around 3pm yesterday. The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office says that while being dispatched, they learned female living in the residence may have been held against her will, and a male subject had discharged a firearm near the victim. As officers arrived, the female was able to exit the residence safely, but the male remained in the house and reportedly threatened to kill himself or anyone who approached the residence.

The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Michigan State Police and officers from Richfield Township Public Safety to negotiate with the subject, who surrendered around 10:30pm. The suspect is being lodged at the Roscommon County jail.
