VIDEO: After 26 Project Receives Grant

“It’s really a wonderful project and scored well…. so we’re very happy to provide the funds.”

That project is a new cafe that’s been in the works for about five years.

The After 26 Project aims to convert a portion of the AMVETS building in Cadillac into a new restaurant that will employ thirty special needs adults… and the project recently received some additional funding thanks to a grant from USDA Rural Development. The agency awarded almost $37,000 to the After 26 Project on Tuesday morning… funding that they say is supporting a great cause.

“This is a very wonderful project a place to work and live…. become independent and get a sense of belonging,” explained James Turner, Michigan’s State Director for USDA Rural Development

The recent grant brings the total USDA support of the project to almost $112,000; the After 26 Depot is expected to open “within months.”
