157 Cases of COVID-19 Variant Found in 12 Michigan Counties
A new more contagious variant of Covid-19 has now been confirmed in 157 cases right here in Michigan.
Variant B.1.17 is now in 12 Michigan counties.
90 of those cases were seen in an outbreak in a state prison in Ionia.
The remaining 67 cases are the highest in Washtenaw and Wayne counties with three being in the city of Detroit.
One case is confirmed in Charlevoix County, four each in Kalamazoo and Calhoun, two in Clinton County, and one in Eaton, Kent, Macomb, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Van Buren counties.
The variant is said to be 50 percent more contagious and is predicted to infect more people.
